The Pimsleur Method is an audio course that has many advantages over other programs. You do not need books,
or a computer, or even to sit in one place and dedicate time to learning. All you need is a cd player or portable music player, such as an iPod.
You can listen to the Pimsleur Spanish while you drive, work, clean, etc. There are no limits to when and where to learn.

Pimsleur Spanish Review: How It Works
The Pimsleur Method starts by playing a conversation between native speakers. As the conversation is explained, you are asked to repeat the different parts. This goes on throughout all the lessons. As you progress further, you are not only asked to repeat part of the conversation you just heard, but to add in vocabulary you have learned in previous lessons. This system of adaptive recall helps to build a strong foundation in speaking your new language.
Pimsleur Spanish uses two scientifically developed methods of teaching a new language, Graduated Interval Recall and the Principal of Anticipation. Both of these methods are very successful at developing a new language.
Graduated Interval Recall is the process of bring up previous words and content from old lessons, and doing this several times over each course. By constantly using past words, you build a stronger foundation of them. Eventually, you will not even about what you have learned, you will understand it just as you do you native language.
The Principal of Anticipation is the method of having you anticipate an answer. This helps you to start thinking in Spanish, and promotes it more and more as the course goes on.
Pimsleur Spanish Review: Easy Learning
After the first day of using Pimsleur, you will probably feel very good about how much you learned. After the second day, you will feel even better. It won’t take long at all to build your confidence up high enough to practice speaking in Spanish.
I am going to warn you though, Pimsleur is addicting. You will keep wanting more and more. But it is very important to go as recommended, and do one lesson per day. Having that little bit of time in between lessons helps you to commit what you have learned to memory.
While Pimsleur does an amazing job of teaching you to speak and understand a language, it does lack a lot of features that other language learning software have. There are no in-depth descriptions of how the language works. As it is audio only, there are no pictures or video. But none of that really matters, as Pimsleur is very effective at what it does.
Pimsleur Spanish Review: Conclusion
If you want a simple method to use to learn a new language, a method that has worked excellently for over 40 years, I recommend Pimsleur Spanish. It does what is promised, and that is helping you speak and understand Spanish. For the time and money involved, you will be very happy.

this is so addictive!
i am very busy in general, so i never have time to sit down and learn spanish with books. i tried so many books, but i just couldn’t go through all the books i have bought. then i rented pimsleur spanish I, II and III (through recordedbooks.com.) i am so satisfied with the program!
Good memorization approach
Another good point about Pimsleur is that it uses a repetition pattern developed by Dr. Pimsleur that has worked well in helping me memorize the material. They present a word or phrase several times, go on to other things, then go back to that recently-learned phrase again.
Probably one of the key ingredients to learning Spanish
Pimsleur is heavily hyped for a good reason – it works. My own “formula” for learning spanish in middle age includes three approaches: 1) Pimsleur CDs; 2) Grammar study; and 3) Practice with native spanish speakers (or whatever form of “immersion” you can get). Pimsleur works because of the challenge to your memory, using a technique called graduated recall.
