Fluenz French is language learning software that takes what works from other programs, and leaves out what doesn’t.

Fluenz French uses several different methods to teach. Each lesson begins with a video of a woman describing a different aspect of the French langauge. She goes into detail about what you will be learning, backing the French part up with descriptions in English. This helps a lot to teach you how the dynamics of the language, such as grammar, pronunciation help, vocabulary, etc.
The next part of the lesson reinforces what you learned in the video, by putting you in the middle of a conversation between native French speakers. You watch the conversation three times, once with English subtitles, once with English and French subtitles, and another time with no subtitles. This allows the words to burn into your memory. It especially helps you when you hear the word, see the word in French, and see it in English. If there is something you are not sure on, you can watch the conversation as many times as you like, with whatever subtitles you like.
The next part of the lesson is a series of games designed to even further reinforce what you have learned. These involve listening to words, and 
choosing the correct written one, finishing sentences, and other matching games. These help by reinforcing over and over what you have learned thus far, not only from the current lesson, but from previous lessons as well.
Fluenz French is on the more expensive side though. But compared to some other top language learning software, it is a bit cheaper. While the price may seem out of reach, consider how much actual classes cost. A college class can cost anywhere from $300 – $500, each semester. Private lessons can go upwards of $30 an hour. Both of those routes can end up costing thousands of dollars.
How does Fluenz French compare to classes?
The method of learning with Fluenz French is vastly different from going to traditional classrooms. Probably one of the major benefits of language learning software is that you can use it anywhere, at any time. You can install it on a laptop, and use it any room in your house. Do you like the beach? Find a nice comfortable spot at the beach, bring your laptop, and you can learn French there. There are no limits.
You realize, this means you don’t have to shower, get into school clothes, and travel to a far away classroom. In effect, this frees up more time for you, allowing you to be more productive.
If you take a French class, chances are you will have 15 to 25 other people with you. And only an hour or two per class. All people learn differently, and at different speeds. But a class goes at one speed, and doesn’t wait for anybody if they need more help with a certain area.
Of course, in a class you also get to practice speaking to a live audience and teacher. Which is good, for the few seconds of each class you will get to speak. You also get to listen to other people speaking French, but how well can you learn to make the correct pronunciation from other people that are learning just like you? With Fluenz French, you have several different native French speakers that you listen to, and learn to speak with their pronunciation and accents.

Smart Approach to French
After working with Fluenz Spanish a few years ago I decided to give Fluenz French a try. At that time I found that Fluenz and Rosetta were very different products and that essentially their approaches were best suited to different parts of the learning process.
My experience with Fluenz French has confirmed many of the opinions I had regarding Fluenz Spanish, but I can also say that the product has been improved since I last used it.
The basics for Fluenz French are very solid.

I have not progressed very far into the program yet, but I very strongly feel that I will be a French Speaker once I have completed it. The teachers at my daughter’s school know that I am not a french speaker, but I have been trying out what little I have learned so far and they were impressed.
An Honest Review
I’ve been studying French for several years now, I have many french relatives which I see daily and I have even worked in Paris, France for several weeks in one of my uncle’s hair salons.
WOW- this is a GREAT product
I am sure my review will sound like others, but this product is excellent. I was all set to purchase Rosetta Stone until I learned about their limitations on use on multiple computers and strict licensing.
